What is a QR Code?

QR stands for Quick Response. It is simply a two dimensional barcode which contains data. It can be scanned by any SMARTPHONE camera with a QR Code reader or any Android device. QR Code readers are free and easily available for any SMARTPHONE which does not come preloaded with the application.

How many phone numbers can I have linked to my SMARTPetTag?

Unlike a traditional Pet Tag where at best you could have 2 or 3 numbers listed on the Tag, with the SMARTPetTag you can have up to 6 numbers linked to your pet's tag. You can change these numbers as often as you like with any web enabled device. The phone numbers you enter are not seen on the tag and are hidden from the pet finder protecting your (the owner) privacy. The numbers are used to notify you that your pet has been lost.

What if I don't have a SMART phone? What is a SMART Phone?

If you don't have a SMART phone you can report a lost pet by calling the toll-free number 1-877-787-1006. Once called you will be prompted to enter the pet's identification number, which is found on the back of the SMARTPetTag. Enter the ID number using your touch tone phone and you will be connected to the owner or one of the numbers listed in the owners notification profile.

Does my pet have to wear a tracking device?

No. The SMARTPetTag is not a tracking device. It is simply a Pet Tag engraved with a unique QR Code assigned to your pet. It attaches to your pet’s existing collar with the included key ring. There are no additional accessories needed! Once the finder scans your pet’s tag, you will know where your pet is with the GPS system already included on the finder’s SMARTPHONE.

Do I have to download any programs?

No. All you need is access to the Internet and SMARTPetTag gives you control of managing your SMARTPetTag with web-based management tools.

Can anyone see my personal information such as my name, phone number or address from my pet’s profile? Can other contacts’ information be seen?

No, only the information you enter about your pet will be seen. Your contact's information will not be viewable on your pet’s profile, either. You may enter your veterinarian’s phone number in case your pet is injured and will need to be treated before you are reunited.

After the SMARTPetTag is scanned by the finder and I am auto connected to the finder, can the pet finder see my phone number?

No. The SMARTPetTag toll free number will show up on their phone.

Do I have to get a new SMARTPetTag if I move or change phone numbers?

No. Just login to your registered SMARTPetTag account via a web browser or your SMARTPHONE, and make changes to your pet’s profile. You never have to buy another Pet Tag again!
